About Tattva PLM

Tattva PLM is a newly founded Teamcenter consultancy based in the United States, started by a PLM practitioner to work on the problems that most often go unsolved in Teamcenter administration. It is new as a company, and built on more than twenty years of doing this work.

Twenty years of Teamcenter, end to end

That experience runs from Teamcenter Engineering 2005 SR1 through to Teamcenter 2512 — the rich client era, the move to Active Workspace, and everything in between. It is an unusual span, and it matters more than it sounds: a lot of what sits in a mature Teamcenter environment was configured under conventions that have since changed, and knowing why something was done that way is often the fastest route to knowing whether it is safe to change.

Where that experience sits

The work has covered most of what a Teamcenter environment demands over its life, hands-on rather than supervisory:

  • Teamcenter administration, server setup and performance tuning
  • Data migration, including database migration from Oracle to SQL Server
  • BMIDE and custom data modelling
  • ITK development and custom integrations
  • Custom configuration, and custom process design and development
  • Solution design, technical architecture and implementation
  • PLM-to-PLM integration and migration between systems

Engineering background, and how projects are run

Before the PLM work there was engineering design work, which is a useful thing to have behind you when the people you are configuring a system for are designers. It tends to shorten the conversation about what a process actually needs to do.

Projects can be run using Six Sigma methodology and tooling where that suits the work — a Six Sigma Green Belt certification sits behind that. For improvement work with a measurable before and after, which describes a lot of PLM problems, having a structured method to hang it on is worth more than it first appears.

Where things stand today

Tattva PLM is at the beginning. The company is newly founded and actively looking for projects, which is worth saying plainly rather than implying a scale that is not there yet. What you get is someone who has spent two decades inside Teamcenter environments working directly on your problem, without a layer of account management between you and the work.

The free administration tools published on this site came out of the same work. They exist because the problems they solve kept recurring across environments.
